Head Over to Bluehost Website

To get started, you need a Bluehost-WordPress-WooCommerce account.

Click on the Start Your Store link on Bluehost’s WooCommerce Hosting product page.

In the next step, you will see the list of available plans—each offering the right combination of e-commerce tools, plugins, security, and expert guidance.

You’ll find various lengths of time just above the pricing options. The 36-month plan is the best option if you’re looking for the biggest bang for your buck.

Because we want to start an eCommerce store, choose the Standard plan with 36 months by clicking 36 Months and clicking Select underneath the heading Standard plan.

Type in the domain name

You need to set up a domain next.

A new domain can be created or an existing domain can be used.

Create a new domain section is where you would enter the domain name and extension of the domain, for instance, .com, .in, .site, .online, .website, etc.

Use a domain you own if you own a domain already and want to use it. To do this, select Use a domain you own and click Next.

You’re not feeling inspired? During the first step, you’ll be able to select a domain. You will do the same for the following step. You can create a domain later by clicking on I’ll do it later.

Creating Your Bluehost Account

Creating an account with Bluehost requires the entry of personal and payment details.

Fill in all the relevant fields relating to your account and payment. Moreover, your site’s functionality and security can be enhanced by purchasing extras.

When you have filled in all relevant fields, such as your personal information and payment information, hit Submit.

You can then get started with the fun part of creating your account after your payment has been successfully processed.

Create Password for Your Account

Lastly, we at Bluehost need to set up a password for our accounts. Click Create Account after entering your domain name and password.

Please remember to check I have read and agree to Bluehost’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service – after you have read them, of course.

Well done! Your Bluehost account has been created.

Step 2: Create Your WordPress Website

Websites are most commonly built with WordPress, and this guide is no exception. 

You will automatically have one-click access to WordPress after creating an account with Bluehost. Thanks to the hosting option you chose, you will already have WordPress installed. Therefore, you can begin taking action immediately.

Log Into Your Bluehost Account

To start working on your eCommerce website, you will need to log into your Bluehost account again.

Once you’re redirected, you’ll need to enter your email address and password to access the account.

Enter your credentials and click Log In.

Give the green light to your eCommerce site

The button for Creating your website is aptly described as the beginning of your website adventure.

As an alternative to migrating a new website, you can also migrate an existing website. To start the migration, click on Start Migration.

Determine Your Expertise

Afterward, you need to decide on the kind of website you want to create, which, in this case, is an Online Store.

Choosing a Website Theme

To give your website an extra edge over your competition, Bluehost offers an amazing collection of free and premium themes.

Then filter the theme selections to see eCommerce-specific options by selecting whether you want free or paid templates. From the menu bar, click the eCommerce tab. 

There are so many options here, you’re completely spoilt for choice! 

Like what you see? When the theme pops up on your screen, hover over it and click Use This Theme. The theme I chose was Astra since it was free.

Bluehost will automatically start installing WordPress as soon as you choose a theme.

Go to WordPress

You can find the log-in to WordPress button in the top right corner of your Bluehost dashboard.

After signing up for a WordPress-specific hosting plan, you’ll be automatically directed to your WordPress site-no additional steps required.

Step 3: Integrate WooCommerce with Your WordPress Site

With the WooCommerce plugin, a WordPress website can be transformed into a full-fledged eCommerce store.

Open source, free, and user-friendly, it’s a good option. WooCommerce automates everything from product pages to payment gateway integration to tax calculations, making it a true lifesaver for eCommerce sellers.

Open WooCommerce

Your website needs to have the WooCommerce plugin installed and activated. Bluehost’s WooCommerce plans take care of this problem for you.

Immediately after designing the website, you can enter the required information.

Add Your Basic Information 

As you enter your business information, you’ll also have the chance to enter details about your store, industry, and product type.

There are a number of questions you’ll have to answer, from your address to the industry and the type of product you intend to list.

Choose Your Ecommerce Website Theme

Now that your theme is active, you can either stick with it or change it and select another theme.

Clicking Continue with my active theme will let me keep Astra.

There you have it! Now you’ll see a popup welcoming you to the online headquarters of your WooCommerce store.

Step 4: Fine-tune the settings of your e-commerce website

Setting up the eCommerce website’s essential elements such as payment gateways, shipping options, and tax calculations plays a large role in this step.

Even though this sounds intimidating, it’s actually not. The right guidance only needs to be provided, and that is precisely what this guide does.

Set up your payment options

From your WooCommerce dashboard, select the Pay for your orders section. Click Set up payments. 

The payment methods that you wish to accept through your store are: 
Direct bank transfer, Stripe, Razorpay, or PayU. It is very simple to set up your website, and you will be asked to link your respective accounts after clicking Set up. It is important to note that Stripe is a credit card payment processor.

Also, consider enabling cash on delivery, but be sure to set up the logistics. Alternatively, you can use PayPal.

Configure Your Tax Rates

You can configure your tax rates for customers using the Setup tax button in WooCommerce. Click the Configure button.

The next step will take you to the Tax tab, where you will be able to configure your standard tax rates among other tax options.

Setting Up Shipping Options

The WooCommerce dashboard is a list of options where you can set up shipping. Select Set up shipping.

You can choose your shipping rates even though WooCommerce will automatically detect the location. Additionally, you can set every zone to be free or to have a fixed price.

After you have done it, click Complete task.

Customize Your Ecommerce Website

Create a custom homepage, upload your company logo, and add a store notice to distinguish yourself from your competition. In the WooCommerce dashboard, choose to Personalize my store.

Your website can be customized using WordPress. That way, you will never feel restricted in your creative endeavors.

After you’ve reviewed everything, click Complete task.

Step 5: Add the products that you want to sell

A website for eCommerce doesn’t make sense if you do not sell anything. In other words, you need to add the products you want to sell next.

Go back to your Bluehost Portal

There are several options available on your Bluehost account’s portal. This is how it will look:

Click Confirm store information. You can select I intend to sell physical and digital products under Products, while most fields will be filled in automatically by Bluehost.

Add Products to Sell

Create your first product by clicking on it.

Adding products to your WooCommerce store is easy with two options: manual and import.

It is undoubtedly quicker to import a product’s information rather than entering it manually, however, not everybody has them. Here is the manual method, keeping this in mind.

Under Enter product information manually, click on Add a product. Your WordPress website will be accessed through this link.

Install Plugins

  • Contact Page. Any customer who needs assistance or has questions can reach out to you through a contact page. Simple forms can be created using the name, e-mail, and message fields. If you don’t have a contact page plugin, you can easily create one yourself.

Step 7: Make Your Ecommerce Site Public

Does your website look, work, and feel the way you want it to? Once that’s done, you can start selling it!

Launch Your Website

To access the WordPress privacy settings, select Settings from the sidebar.

To start with, you should check your privacy settings. Ecommerce websites and non-eCommerce websites alike need privacy policies. Unless you choose a privacy policy page, WordPress won’t let you go public. You can edit the template or make your own, but there is already a set template in place.

Finally, you should make sure everything on your website is set and looks the way you want it to—the home page, the contact page, the about page, and anything else you want. 

When you’re finished, click Launch.
